How to Permanently Delete Your Instagram Account

If you’ve decided to remove Instagram for good, follow these steps to permanently delete your account.

Step 1: Go to the Account Deletion Page

Instagram doesn’t make account deletion easy—you won’t find the option directly in the app. Instead, you need to visit the official deletion page:

Step 2: Log In to Your Instagram Account

If you aren’t already logged in, you’ll need to enter your Instagram username and password to access the account deletion page.

Step 3: Select a Reason & Confirm Deletion

Instagram will ask why you want to delete your account. Choose a reason from the dropdown menu, then re-enter your password. Finally, click or tap "Delete [your username]" to confirm.

Step 4: Wait 30 Days for Permanent Deletion

Your account won’t disappear instantly—Instagram gives you a 30-day grace period in case you change your mind. During this time, your account will be deactivated, but if you log in again, the deletion request will be canceled. After 30 days, your account and all associated data will be permanently erased.

By deleting your Instagram account, you’re taking control of your online presence and prioritizing your privacy, mental well-being, and digital freedom.
